Make the most of every break

1Book early for holiday weekends
Everyone travels on the same days, so fares for public-holiday weekends often rise as they get closer. Set a price alert when you spot a break.
2Fly on the holiday itself
Departing on the first day off, or returning on the last morning, is often cheaper than the evening before.
3Short flights win
With three or four days, pick places under about four hours away so you don't lose a day to travel.
4Ask for leave early
Colleagues want the same bridge days. Request yours as soon as you have a plan.
